Entertaining Idea: Blindfolds & Chocolate Mousse

No Peeking, Cocoa Beans. In the midst of glittering snow showers, the warm aroma of love laces the air, especially as February 14th approaches. As your food friend, I want to make sure your dinner for that special  someone has a creative touch. And don’t worry, this extra entertaining touch only requires a  spoon-friendly dessert and 2 blindfolds. Wink ,Wink.

Entertaining Idea: Blindfold Feeding, Dresses & Appetizers

It only takes a little imagination to make a date more interesting. Wearing blindfolds while eating dessert  adds a sexy and suspenseful (or hilarious) element to your courtship that you will  always remember. Plus it will intensify the flavor of your luscious chocolate mousse. I recommend placing the blindfolds on while eating  dessert, so you have the safety of a spoon. You can do this 1 of 2 ways:

  • Blindfold 1 person at a time
  • Blindfolded both people, with good senses of humor, at the same time

Dessert: I dilly-dallied in sweets at culinary school and made an easy, fool-proof, spoon-licking, chocolate mousse that tastes even better when blindfolded.

Airy Chocolate Mousse (No-Cook)
Serves 4
5 oz. Bittersweet chocolate, chopped
1 ½ cup Heavy Cream
3 egg whites
2 Tbsp sugar

1. Place chocolate in a bowl. Place bowl over simmering water and stir the chocolate gently with a spatula until it is completely melted. Turn off heat and leave bowl over simmering water.

2. Beat the cream over ice until it forms soft peaks. Set aside in the refrigerator.

3. In a mixer, whip eggs. When soft peaks form, gradually add sugar until the whites form strong peaks. Be careful not to over-beat the eggs, they should not be stiff and dry.

4. Remove chocolate and using a spatula, gently fold in ¼ into the egg whites to lighten the base, and then fold in the rest. Make sure to fold ingredients from the bottom of the bowl.

5. When chocolate is almost fully incorporated, fold in whipped cream. Pour in individual ramekins.

6. Cover the mouse with plastic wrap and refrigerate for approximately 1 hour or until set.

Note: If concerned with raw eggs, you can substitute Italian meringue for the egg and sugar mixture. Keep in mind this will increase sweetness.

Interesting! It’s gonna be quite challenging to get my bf to play along in this blind-folding activity…hahaha…I doubt he’ll bother! 😛
